Uh, I'd be careful of using a name like that. I can't seem to find it, but I know there is a Marxist-Leninist guerrilla group in South America known as the Workers Liberation Front with a military wing known as the Workers Liberation Army. They enjoy kidnapping and extorting drug traffickers, rich people, and ambushing government troops. You don't want to end up on a DHS list do you?

Great article. How can every state NOT have Right to Work laws in place? They should and the reason they don't is a big part of why America is not the economic powerhouse it should always be.

And that's just it - right now businesses are NOT free to either negotiate or not negotiate w/ the union. If the workers unionize, the business is FORCED to negotiate with them. Libertariansm is based on a stand AGAINST the initiation of force to achieve an end.

Dr. Tim has it right - in a truly free society a worker would be free to join or not join a union, and the business would be free to either recognize and negotiate with the union or not. Right now the NLRB forces businesses to negotiate with the union, taking away their freedom to make that decision for themselves.

The RTW legislation exits government from the process; legislation is necessary to undue existing laws that impose compulsory unions on businesses. The freedom of association in the workplace has three parts - the right to bargain collectively, the right not to and the right of the employer to recognize or not recognize the bargaining unit. Unions are not banned, they are just made voluntary, as all economic exchanges should be.

Isn't your support for right to work legislation a contradictory position as a libertarian? In other words, shouldn't businesses be free to negotiate bad contracts that hamstring their ability to compete, and unions to do the same? And workers to be free to simply avoid seeking work at union shops? Government interference in the process seems anti-libertarian...unless it's a government union.
